Forty Somalis representing a broad spectrum of the Somali community in Britain took part in a Consultative Meeting on 19 June at IofC’s London centre. The meeting was hosted by Somali Initiative for Dialogue and Democracy (SIDD) which believes that the time is right for the Somali community in Britain to come together to tackle the major issues affecting it, such as unemployment, discrimination, crime, underachievement, marginalisation and poverty.

The proposal to establish a consultative group for the Somali community was warmly welcomed. A report of the event including the document adopted by the meeting was published on the Alshahid website.
