Greencoat Forum with John Bond

John Bond
| Between 1910 and 1970, tens of thousands of Aboriginal children in Australia were removed from their families under policies now recognised as cruel and misguided. This was dramatised in the film Rabbit Proof Fence. In 1998 a Sorry Day was called, and nearly a million Australians got involved. Two years later a million people joined walks in every city calling for an apology and other steps to overcome the harm done to Aboriginal Australia. Many thousands joined a Journey of Healing campaign to heal the wounds caused by the removal policies. As Secretary of the National Sorry Day Committee for eight years until 2006, John Bond has been at the heart of this movement. In 2007 he was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia.
