Peace Begins at Home is an intergenerational dialogue training programme that builds bridges between generations and policy makers in different communities. The programme is supported by Somali Initiative for Dialogue and Democracy and Initiatives of Change UK. ‘One the biggest challenges faced by diaspora communities in London is intergenerational,’ says its founder, Amina Khalid. ‘When there is lack of communication, it can often result in unspoken conflict which remains unaddressed and affects both older and younger members.’ The programme originally focused on the Somali community, but now reaches out to other communities, and has trained over 500 people.
