The Times, London, on its Saturday ‘Faith’ page, 8 November, carried an article by Michael Smith, following his IofC website commentary on the financial crisis.

Appearing in the regular Saturday Credo column, Smith writes that 'those who are driven solely by the profit motive and "the love of money", described by St Paul as "the root of all evil", are discovering that security based on material wealth is an illusion.' He draws on the writings of Adam Smith to argue that capitalism cannot be separated from conscience 'and even a divine providence'. Michael Smith is described as the author of Trust and Integrity in the Global Economy, and an outreach worker with Initiatives of Change.
