Over the last two years we have used 1st June as a fundraising day for the network and our regular supporters. The idea is that we come together as a network and take part in an activity whilst fundraising for our own work and of those we support working in Initiatives of Change. You are free to raise money for Initiatives of Change as a whole, a specific project or work you are doing with Initiatives of Change in your region/city. The main thing is that we come together as a collective to fundraise for the outreach of our work.

This year for our Fundraising Challenge, we have decided to take the whole month of June. This means that you can do the Challenge on any day or week in June that you choose. You might even do it more than once with different groups you are engaging with.

The 2018 Fundraising Challenge is a Bake-athon.

It’s time to bake, bake, bake! When you’ve baked your cakes, have a tea and cake morning, invite your friends and ask them to donate to our worthy cause. You could charge them for entry or per slice of cake they eat. Get others in your team to help you bake, use the baking as a social event to get to know others in your community, or as a way of getting your children involved in supporting us as a charity.

Take the cakes into your work place and share with your colleagues what you are doing and what it is for. Fundraising is a great conversation starter to introduce new causes to people. You could have a tea and cake evening with your friends. As summer months approach and the evenings get longer, you might even take your tea and cake outside and turn it into a garden party.

Fundraising doesn’t need to be boring, if can be fun and lead to many deeper relationships with others. So, go out and have fun during June with our Bake-athon, being as creative as you can to help us raise money for our work. Don’t forget, you can also support the Bake-athon by donating to IofC through our Justgiving page, or setup your own fundraising page connected with the Bake-athon, you will find the fundraising event on Justgiving enabling you to connect your fundraising page to this Challenge. Finally, if you’re still struggling for ideas, why not take a minute to explore our new fundraising pack, full of ides to help you fundraise for our work. You can order one through the post by emailing fundraise@iofc.org or check out the resources here.
