Initiatives of Change UK (IofC) is a faith-based organisation that works with people of all faiths and none.

We are a movement of people who come from diverse backgrounds, all with one aim - to build trust across the world's divides. We believe in the values of honesty, unselfishness, love and purity at the heart of what we do. We focus our work in three areas: ethical leadership, sustainable living and trust building. Within each of these themes, we deliver training courses, events and programmes. Take a look at our programme section, where you’ll find information about our work where we accompany new and existing leaders, women peacebuilders, refugees, communities, peace and reconciliation.

As an organisation that believes change starts with oneself, our core practice is listening in silence to divine inspiration or the inner voice as a source of truth and renewal.

Our approach

Initiatives of Change (IofC) emphasises the profound connection between the personal and global: when people and relationships change, so do situations. Many of the world’s problems – and their solutions – are rooted in human nature. Fear, hate, greed and indifference lead to injustice, poverty, conflict and environmental destruction. Yet it is also in human nature to be caring, courageous and creative.

Our approach emerged over time, growing out of the work of Frank Buchman, who believed in helping each person to unlock their potential. He advocated the use of listening in silence to divine inspiration or the inner voice as a source of truth and renewal. He tested these thoughts against the four standards of honesty, unselfishness, love and purity of heart. His work inspired people to live their values through 'being the change' they want to see in the world.
