School for Changemakers 2014

From Friday 3 July to Sunday 5 July, the School for Changemakers (SfCM) held a summer conference at Initiatives of Change centre in London. The theme was ‘A change in human attitudes and behaviours’ which was addressed through a structured programme of talks, workshops, community group discussions and quiet time.

Beyond Forgiving

The Beyond Forgiving Initiative aims to further the message of the Beyond Forgiving documentary and utilise the film as a tool to complement existing reconciliation and peace building projects. On Tuesday 28 July, Talia Smith visited the London Interfaith Centre to lead a discussion around the film with the Centre’s book group.

The psychological effects of drone strikes in Pakistan; local attitudes to the United Nations intervention in southern Lebanon, and the social media campaign 'Bring Back our Girls' in Nigeria, were among subjects explored at a conference entitled 'Narratives of Intervention: Reflections from North and South', which took place at the Centre for International Intervention, University of Surrey, from 22-23 July. The films An African Answer, Two Years Later and In Search of Peace in Chad, made by IofC's For the Love of Tomorrow Films, were screened to all the participants at the conference.

Mike Smith and Wendy Addison at the book launch of Great Company

Journalist and author Michael Smith urged the need for ‘conscience-based decision-making’ in banking, business and the economy when he launched his new book Great Company at the Caux Conference Centre in Switzerland, on 28 June. He was interviewed in front of conference participants by South African whistleblower Wendy Addison, whose story is one of many in the book, during the annual Caux conference on Trust and Integrity in the Global Economy (TIGE).
