Changemakers cover summer 2018

We are pleased to announce the seventh issue of Changemakers, our magazine dedicated to sharing stories both of personal change and of tackling global issues.

John Bond

Join Initiatives of Change as we journey together through a series that explores what it means to be a changemaker in one’s own life. Come hear stories of personal transformation leading to global change, be inspired to reflect and seek purpose, be equipped with tools for change, and be connected to build a better society. From 1998 until 2006 John Bond OAM was the Secretary of Australia’s National Sorry Day Committee, which enlisted nearly a million Australians in an apology to Aboriginal Australians for cruel and misguided past policies, and in initiatives to overcome the harm caused. In 2007 he was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia for service to the Australian community through this work.

Pranay Raj Shakya

Join Initiatives of Change as we journey together through a series that explores what it means to be a changemaker in one’s own life. Pranay Raj Shakya from Nepal based in Liverpool has been working as a volunteer for a decade. He is currently working as elected Vice President at Liverpool Hope University’s Student Union while also working on his not-for-profit campaign, Lead the Change International. He led a team of volunteers in Nepal for emergency relief works after the earthquake hit Nepal in April 2015.

Muna Ismail

Join Initiatives of Change as we journey together through a series that explores what it means to be a changemaker in one’s own life. Dr Muna Ismail is Programme Manager for Initiatives of Change in the UK. She is a scientist and an environmentalist with a passion for land restoration in degraded arid ecosystems for Sustainable Livelihood Development in post-conflict states. In the last two years she has been developing Refugees as Rebuilders™ Training of Trainers (ToT) courses for Diaspora from the Horn of Africa and other conflict-affected regions.

Amina Dikedi-Ajakaiye

Join Initiatives of Change as we journey together through a series that explores what it means to be a changemaker in one’s own life. Amina Dikedi-Ajakaiye started a fashion business in Lagos, Nigeria and now works to promote reconciliation and ethical leadership in Africa.

Johan Eldebo

Join Initiatives of Change as we journey together through a series that explores what it means to be a changemaker in one’s own life. Johan Eldebo is the Senior Humanitarian Policy Adviser for World Vision. As part of the organisation's emergency response team he spends about half his working time in conflict-affected areas such as South Sudan, the Central African Republic, Burundi and Afghanistan.

Amina Khalid

Come hear stories of personal transformation leading to global change, be inspired to reflect and seek purpose, be equipped with tools for change, and be connected to build a better society. Amina Khalid works for Initiatives of Change UK, as a Consultant of Sustainable Communities Programme. She is founder of Peace Begins at Home, an intergenerational dialogue training, a programme of SIDD created to empower and build the capacity of younger and older people to build better understanding across the generation.

Changemakers Arts Festival, London

Changemakers event

From the 26 to 29 October, Initiatives of Change will open its doors to the public for its first ever Changemakers Arts Festival. The event is a collection of stories told through films, music, workshops and performances that illustrate how simple acts of compassion and courage can make a big difference.
